Cathi Sessions, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker who works with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship stress. She has experience providing in-home and outpatient therapy in the Salt Lake area and has taught couples communication classes within the community.
Cathi works with adults with ADHD, supporting clients in understanding their diagnosis, developing a more compassionate relationship with themselves, and learning practical strategies to manage attention, emotional regulation, and overwhelm. She also works with couples navigating neurodiversity, helping partners better understand one another’s differences, improve communication, and strengthen connection while working collaboratively with those differences.
She has a strong knowledge base in faith transitions, religious trauma, and mixed-faith marriages, and is attentive to the grief, identity shifts, and relational strain that often accompany these experiences. Cathi is a member of the LGBTQIA+ Therapist Guild and is committed to providing affirming, respectful care while continuing to deepen her understanding of the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples.
Cathi’s approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-based. She is EMDR-trained and integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Client-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method, Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT), mindfulness practices, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), eclectic therapy, and strength-based approaches. Treatment is tailored to each client’s goals, needs, and pace.
Cathi earned her Bachelor of Behavioral Science and Master of Social Work from the University of Utah.
